Green screen experiment in just a minute, but first this update on the book.
Book is done. If you are interested it’s available here: www.makemoneymakingvideos.com
The cool thing about the book is you can take it step-by-step and have your own flash videos on your website without spending any more money. And, the book’s only $19.95.
I’ll be changing the title soon to something more descriptive and adding a few things I’ve recently learned.
This internet video process is a fun adventure. Certainly more interesting than my other business.
Two weeks ago we drove over to a local supply shop and purchase professional lights for video AND a green screen. We bought the economy version green screen, which is basically green muslin hanging on a horizontal bar. The lights are great though, I love them.
Now, in case you’re not too familiar with green screen, it’s the same technique the TV station uses to show the weatherman in front of a map, or videos of weather. You can use either green or blue for your screen color, although green is most common. It works because there is no green in skin tone. You need to be careful not to wear any green clothing when you shoot.
Anyway, you then use the ChromaKey setting in ULead or Sony or whatever editor you’re using. It deletes the green background and puts your subject in front of any background you choose, even in front of another video.
I’m not happy with the results (You can see them here: www.yourvideobusinesscards.com ), however, the process we’ve discovered works like a charm. We really can get a website to the top pages of Google just like we say on the video.
It’s a strange feeling, like we’ve stumbled upon the keys to the vault.
I’m trying to figure out why this technique works so well, and I still come up with "I don’t know".
One writer said the search engines love video because it takes more to produce a video than it does to produce a page of words.
Could be.
Maybe we’ll understand it one day, but for now we are quietly helping clients and our own sites get great rankings. Not even advertising it except on the link above.
